Seven businesses receive $50,000 in Market Street Shines Grants
SAN FRANCISCO (June 16, 2025) – The Mid-Market Foundation today announced the distribution of $50,000 in Market Street Shines grants to seven local businesses, supporting critical interior improvements and security upgrades within the Mid-Market neighborhood. The grants, funded through San Francisco's SF Shines program, represent the Foundation's continued commitment to strengthening the Mid-Market’s business ecosystem.
The Market Street Shines initiative awarded grants ranging from $4,200 to $10,000 to businesses completing projects by the end of June 2025. Recipients include a diverse mix of restaurants, entertainment venues, and creative spaces, all working to enhance their storefronts and improve security.
“With the help of Mid Market Foundation and the SF Shines program, Mr. Tipple’s has been able to improve our operations and deliver a better guest experience,” said Jay Bordeleau, Founder and Partner, Mr. Tipple’s. “We’re overjoyed to feel the efforts of the Market Street Arts Initiative and the improvements to our neighborhood.”
Grant Recipients and Projects:
Recipients include Haru, 200 Channels, Jonathan Carver Moore, Moe Greens, Indie Darling, Mr. Tipple's, and The Beer Hall. The funds supported improvements such as security gate installations, new doors, furniture upgrades, stage lighting, and signage. The businesses represent a diverse mix of restaurants, performance venues, arts venues, dispensaries, entertainment venues, and music venues throughout Mid-Market.
"These Market Street Shines grants represent our strategic investment in the businesses that make Mid-Market a vibrant destination," said Steve Gibson, Executive Director of the Mid-Market Foundation. "By partnering with SF Shines to bring these resources directly to Mid-Market, we're not just improving individual storefronts – we're strengthening the entire neighborhood's appeal for residents, workers, and visitors alike."
The Market Street Shines program leverages funding from the city's SF Shines initiative, which provides reimbursements up to $10,000 for interior upgrades and equipment purchases. The Mid-Market Foundation received the $50,000 allocation specifically to support businesses within Mid-Market, addressing critical needs for security improvements and aesthetic enhancements.
The Market Street Shines grants complement the Mid-Market Foundation's broader Market Street Arts initiative and ongoing efforts to transform the corridor into a premier arts and entertainment district. Beyond direct grants, the Foundation has helped launch three new businesses in the neighborhood, provides ongoing technical assistance, and coordinates marketing campaigns and special events to drive foot traffic. The Foundation recently launched the Mid-Market Business Collaborative working group to foster collaboration among local businesses. The Mid-Market Foundation continues to work with city partners and private donors to identify additional funding opportunities for local businesses and neighborhood improvements.
