Re-Think, Re-Envision, Re-Experience Mid-Market
RRR Mid-Market is a public-private, multi-layered, multi-year program to curate activations in ground floor retail spaces and the public realm through creative arts, businesses, and programming in order to transform the experience of Mid-Market at scale.

Help businesses, existing and new, operate in the neighborhood, and redefine the area’s retail potential.
Activate vacant spaces by supporting local artists, and play to the neighborhood’s strengths to enhance our public spaces.
Harness a sense of community and establish leadership at the grassroots level so that the work stays focused and sustainable.

BACKGROUND
RRR Mid-Market was shaped by a 2022 community process and launched in 2023. The program area includes Market Street between 5th and Van Ness Streets, with the first year of implementation focusing on a smaller two-block stretch. The first year of the program will focus on community goals and lead projects to support ground floor retail, public art and placemaking, and advocacy.
Mid-Market has long been home to cutting-edge art venues and organizations, innovative businesses, and residents of all socio-economic levels, yet the area’s stakeholders have coped with neighborhood challenges for years. This program supports a healthy and well-curated retail environment and placemaking that catalyzes the best of San Francisco on Market Street sidewalks.
The program is managed by the Mid-Market Business Association & Foundation with various partners including NOW Art, MJB Consulting, local arts, business, and community leaders with support from the City and County of San Francisco.

To experience (something) again (as in the form of a memory).
To re-experience a Mid-Market where the energetic vibrancy and element of surprise attracts people from near and far. Where diverse people meet, live, work and play. Where there’s a blending of the past and present, and a wonder of what’s to come. A place that sparks joy.
